What do the South Orange Elks do?
Since 1909, the South Orange Elks have supported various local charitable causes and Elk charities, provided scholarships to students in need, hosted community events and been a gathering place to meet and socialize in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We are neighbors helping neighbors, committed to service and fellowship.
What is the Elks' mission?
Our mission emphasizes Elkdom’s commitment to promoting the four cardinal virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity. We aim to enhance the happiness and welfare of our members, strengthen the spirit of American patriotism, and foster good fellowship within the South Orange / Maplewood community. Our Lodge strives to serve our community through numerous benevolent programs and activities, demonstrating the principals of “Elks Care” and “Elks Share.”

How do I join? How much does it cost?
If you want to get more involved in the Elks, your community and volunteer in activities that raise money that give back. Even an hour of your time makes a world of difference. Fill out the attached application and email to: Secretary@soelks.com and our welcoming committee will reach out to you.
2025-26 annual dues are $124.

Is it a religious or political organization?
The SO Elks is a non-political, non-sectarian and strictly American fraternity. We value and celebrate people of all backgrounds and are dedicated to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture.
What's up with the bar? Is it open to the public?
The South Orange Elks bar is open to members and guests only except during public, permitted events. All members are permitted to sign in up to 9 guests each on members nights.

What type of community events does the South Orange Elks host?
Our events include Elks Camp Moore fundraisers, 'First Fridays' music nights, Flag Day ceremony, volunteer opportunities to serve meals at local Veteran's Hospitals, Elktoberfest, a Hoop Shoot contest, Lodge Memorial Service, Breakfast with Santa, Old Year’s Eve Dance Party, Halloween Dance Party, Memorial Day Parade, Galentine’s Dance Party, Pride Community Family Day and so much more. And all proceeds from our events directly fund our charities!
